Meta's Muse agent announced big upgrades at Connect on September 23, 2026: it can drive apps on your Mac, it's getting its own email address, and it shops through more partners. Here's what it can do, where the risks are, and how to stay in control.

Where the risk is
- Amazon blocked Muse from its store starting Sunday night, September 20. Amazon says the agent doesn't identify itself when it browses and "appears to capture and store customer credentials."
- Meta's answer: Muse "has no visibility into people's passwords or payment methods," and credentials you share "go into secure storage."
- Account access: Amazon says Muse can reach account pages and order history if you prompt it to.
Your checklist
- Grant Mac access on purpose. Computer control needs your permission. Say yes only when you have a task for it.
- Read every approval screen. Muse "checks with the user before sensitive actions like sending an email or making a purchase." That screen is your last line of defence, so check the item, price and store.
- Forward mail, don't hand over your inbox. Muse's own address lets you send it only the threads it needs.
- Share logins sparingly. Only give credentials for sites you actually want it to use.
- Expect some stores to say no. Amazon blocks it. Stick to supported partners.
- Check your order history afterward. Confirm what was bought, and where.
- Remember who gets paid. Meta plans to earn a small fee on transactions Muse handles. Decide what to buy yourself.
